Learn How to Intervene with the Addicted or Alcoholic Person
COMMUNITY LECTURE SERIES, Speakers: Jessica North & Mick Meagher

10am-12pm
• Saturday, August 16th
• Saturday, September 20th
• Saturday, October 18th
• Saturday, November 15th

For those families, friends and employers who are concerned about someone’s drinking, drug use, or chronic pain, we are offering a FREE Intervention Information session on the third Saturday of every month. Our goal is to provide concerned persons with an understanding of the disease process they have been facing, offering them an understanding of Intervention, and their options.

The Intervention Info session is an educational program that serves as a bridge from suffering to surrender. We view denial as a component of the illness, not a road block to recovery. We show families how to overcome denial.

When Should You Intervene?

Is the use of alcohol and/or other drugs causing problems in:
• Work or School (lost time, lower productivity or grades, warnings or suspensions)
• With the law (arrests for DUI or drug related charges)
• Family finances (income cannot be accounted for, bills unpaid etc)
• The health of the user (serious physical problems such as insomnia, bloody noses, weight changes, delusions)
• Family gatherings and/or Social settings (fights, change of social group in favor of drinking or drug using friends)
• Emotional stability (wide mood swings, over reacts to minor set backs)

Following a drinking or other drug-using episode by the person you are concerned about, have you felt:
• Embarrassed or afraid of what others might think
• Scared
• Upset or angry
• If you were a better parent/spouse/friend, it wouldn’t have occurred
• Confused about what to do

Have there been:
• Family fights (separations or threats of divorce, young adults thrown out of the home)
• Promises or attempts to quit or control the chemical use
• Attempts by family members to control the chemical use (extracting promises, hiding the chemicals or alcohol, using with them to show its impact)
