Dr. Jerry Rand, M.D. APMC, ASAM, CASAM, APS, MROCC, Medical Director, Pain and Addiction Specialist, Certified Buphrenorphine
Dr. Rand specializes in the treatment of Chronic Pain and Addictive Disorders. Dr. Jerry Rand has treated numerous pain conditions to include but not limited to; fibromyalgia, migraine and other chronic headache conditions, low back syndrome, RSD, rheumatoid arthritis, traumatic skeletal injuries, ulcerative colitis. Dr Rand is the medical director for a treatment center that provides residential care for chronic pain and addictive disorders. In this capacity he also directs and over-sees other providers who are working within the multi-disciplinary team. These providers include PhD, MD, MFT, Acupuncturist, Massage Therapist, Anesthesiologist and CAADAC counselors. In this setting Dr Rand, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, is able to address pain and addiction treatment through a variety of treatment modalities to include addressing physical health, psychological health, family relations, social supports and cultural factors for the person struggling with Chronic Pain and Addiction. Dr Rand has been treating patients with Chronic Pain and Addiction for over 15 years. His education includes completion of medical school in 1972. Since that time he has worked in numerous treatment settings, initially within medical hospitals and emergency rooms. Since 1994 he has directed and developed many treatment programs for the patient suffering from pain and addictive disorders. He founded his own center in 1992, and has since then successfully treated hundreds of chronic pain patients.

Dr. Nate Lowe, Ph.D., Director Of Outpatient Services
Dr. Nate Lowe is a pioneer in the field of substance abuse treatment. He has more than thirty years of experience of providing prevention, intervention, and treatment to individuals who struggle with substance abuse related problems. He has developed and directed treatment programs around the country. He is recognized nationally and internationally for his innovative work in the field of addiction. For the past sixteen years he has directed the Marine Corps Drug Prevention Program at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, San Diego, CA. In addition, he has traveled extensively both in and out of country providing training and education to other military installations...

Ms. Bonnie Hanika, Program Manager
Ms. Hanika has more than twenty years of experience in the field of substance abuse treatment. She has provided treatment to the abuser as well as families members. She began her work as a substance abuse counselor and rose to management level. Part of her professional expertise includes creating substance abuse programs that are maintained in accordance with mandatory accreditation requirements. She has managed four levels of patient care while supervising clinical staff as part of an interdisciplinary team. She recognizes the importance of ongoing monitoring for treatment programs as a means of consistently providing the highest quality of patient care.

Mr. David Enders, Intake Coordinator
Mr. Enders is originally from Buffalo New York. He has an extensive background in customer service. Because of both personal and spiritual reasons he decided to enter the helping professions. He has five years of experience in working in substance abuse intensive outpatient and recovery. He began working in the field of mental health while completing his degree at San Diego State University. He received his degree in Psychology, graduating as Suma Cume Laude. His prior work experience includes substance abuse counselor and case manager

Dr. Marilyn Thomson, Clinical Therapist
Dr. Thomson is a Marriage and Family Therapist. She has more than 20 years of experience addressing therapeutic issues. Prior to joining Bay Recovery, she spent 21 years with the United States Marine Corps and the Navy, San Diego, CA. In her position with the Marine Corps and Navy she provided psychotherapy and group process addressing Stress Disorder and other stress related issues. Prior to her service with the Marine Corps and Navy, She taught school for 15 years in the public school system.

Ms. Jeannette Turner, Substance Abuse Counselor
Mrs. Turner is a Retired Marine of twenty-six years. She has worked in the field of substance abuse for the past fifteen years. While in the Marine Corps she served as Director for the Substance Abuse Program. Currently she oversees Drug Prevention, Training, and Education. She travels extensively conducting inspections. Her education includes degrees in Business Administration, Human Services with concentration in Addiction Studies, and Masters Degree in Organizational Management Leadership.

Ms. Tess Stewart-Todd, Therapist
Ms. Todd is Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked in the substance abuse field as counselor and supervisor. She received her Bachelor Degree in Human Services from Springfield College. Her Masters’ Degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. She completed her internship at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. She is also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

Mr. Jesse Price, Substance Abuse Counselor
Mr. Price is a Retired Marine. He has worked in the field of substance abuse treatment and prevention for the past sixteen years. He has held multiple positions from counselor to program director. He is highly respected for his work in substance abuse services. He completed his undergraduate work at Heritage Christian College. He earned his Masters’ Degree from National University. He is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and International Certified Clinical Supervisor (ICCS). He is also a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP).

Mr. Guillermo is a Retired Marine of twenty years in Marine Corps. He has worked in the field for fourteen years. He has served as Counselor to Clinical Director. He received his Bachelor of Art and Masters’ Art from National University. He also received a Masters’ of Art in Organization Management. He is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), International Certified Clinical Supervisor (ICCS). Currently, He is working on his Doctorate at Argosy University.

Dr. Clark Smith, M.D., Director of Residential Services
Dr. Smith graduated from medical school at the University of Arizona in 1981, completed an Internal Medicine internship and then worked as an emergency medicine physician on weekends while completing specialty training in Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego. He was appointed as Chief Resident for UCSD Medical Center during his final year of residency.
He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, is board certified in Addiction Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry, and serves as an expert witness providing testimony to the courts in civil and criminal matters. He was the Chief of Staff at Mesa Vista Hospital and past president of the San Diego Psychiatric Society. He is the current president of the San Diego Psych-Law Society, and a National Assembly Representative to the American Psychiatric Association. He has held the position of Medical Director at Sharp McDonald Center Chemical Dependency Recovery Hospital since it opened in 1989.

Dr. Bertrand De Silva, M.D., Sleep Specialist Manager
Dr Bertrand de Silva trained at St. Thomas Hospital Medical School in London and after completing his residency at LAC/USC Medical Center went on to a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at UCLA/ Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He is board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and practiced Pulmonary and Critical Care for the last twenty years. He is currently the Medical Director of American Sleep Medicine in Orange and the Co-Director in San Diego. He will provide you with a tailored consultation to answer all your Sleep and Pulmonary questions with appropriate management.

Dr. Miles Stanich, Internist
Dr. Stanich is a Board Certified Internist who specializes in the treatment of people with painful medical conditions. Treatment is based on treating the underlying condition as much as possible with also the recognition that the entire well being of the patient often requires making sure the patient's pain is brought under control. Dr Stanich has practiced in San Diego for 25 years and also has interests in Primary Care Medicine and Sports Medicine
